A major export contract for aerospace components has been renewed with Unicut Precision of Welwyn Garden City by a US customer requesting delivery schedules originally due early in 2009 to be brought forward due to increased demand.
Said joint managing director Jason Nicholson: “The original two-year contract was due for renewal and we had to visit the customer in America expecting the effects of the current market turmoil to have some influence on the customer’s decision to source outside the USA. However, during the meetings we were complimented on our quality and delivery and not only has the contract been renewed, but the customer has requested us to increase production and bring forward the delivery schedule.”
Unicut Precision has been supplying the customer with components for some four years and two years ago, won the larger contract based on its track record for delivery and quality performance as well as competitive pricing. The contract involves selections from some 70 different components that have already been tooled up for supply in batches that range from just 10 to 40,000.
Said Charles Kenny, joint managing director: “This is an important psychological boost to us from all the doom and gloom being portrayed by the media. It is also important for the team that has put in so much effort over a long period of time, to not only provide a consistent standard of work but also to have the flexibility to cater for varying delivery schedule requests by the customer. Because of our investment in machines, equipment and management software we have also been able to respond to very late changes for urgent supply – another element for which the customer was full of praise.” |
